The Guidance and Counselling Department caters to the five (emotional, social, mental, physical and spiritual) dimensions of each student through its programme. The department is headed by Ms. Karen Beckford and Mrs. Donna Preston, Career/College Counsellor.
The enthusiasm displayed by the counsellors corroborates the fact that Campion College indeed cares about its students and truly believes that, with proper guidance, all are able to excel.
Personal Development Classes: Personal Development classes are taught by the counsellors at each grade level. Through the curriculum, student life at Campion College is enhanced as the students are equipped with life skills and the necessary information/facts needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
General Counselling Services: These services are offered to students, parents/guardians as well as the academic, administrative and ancillary staff members. Depending on the nature of the problem, timely referrals may be made to external professionals.
The Student Support Programme: This Programme offers assistance to financially-challenged students and includes scholarships and grants based on academic performance, deportment and behaviour. Please visit Support Campion for more information.
The Breakfast Club: open to all students, the club is in keeping with Jesuit teachings – working together as a community to the benefit of others. Through donations of parents and corporate friends, students are ensured to start the day with a good meal. Please visit the H.S.A. Fund Raising Page for more information.
The Mentorship Programme: Project MADE was established to offer students with additional emotional support and accountability.
The Peer-Counselling Club: Peer influence is one of the best methods of organizing and utilizing the resources of students and their ability to help others become more successful in the school setting. Trained students work with the department helping in times of crisis as well as at seminars and fairs.
Seminars and Fairs: Each academic year various seminars are hosted in an effort to disseminate information to parents/guardians and students. Of these, the Career andHealth Day Fair as well as parenting seminars remain in high regard.
College Counselling: Information and advice on college selection and preparation is also a part of the Department’s range of services to students. We are very proud of our most recent graduates who have been accepted to a very prestigious list of universities overseas in addition to the University of the West Indies and UTech. In addition, Campion was recently appointed as an International ACT Centre and as a SAT centre. Interested individuals who would like to sit the test at Campion College should visit the College Board website www.collegeboard.com and register.
